Helena & Maja

Helena, a multilingual journalist, relocated several times starting at the age of 20, first to London and Brussels, before moving to Barcelona in 2008 with her Catalan family. Having cultivated specialized expertise in living abroad, Helena quickly adapted to life in Barcelona. As the person accountable for all aspects of day-to-day household administration and operations, managing two home renovations and overseeing her children’s education, Helena has developed profound hands-on experience in everything from navigating housing conditions and refurbishments, home amenities, to liaising with schools, engaging with local authorities and communities, and facilitating lifestyle and cultural integration. She is fluent in Danish, English, Spanish, and Catalan.
Maja, a designer and co-founder of a Copenhagen architectural firm, moved to Barcelona in 2016 with no job and no network, and built her life and career from the ground up. Drawing on her entrepreneurial background, business consulting experience, and leading a cross-cultural project in Havana, Maja quickly adapted to the local environment, working with Spanish companies and establishing an international network. By building her travel venture, Maja’s Gusto Barcelona, from scratch, she has developed expert knowledge of the city’s sought-after neighborhoods, prime locations, and desirable surroundings, along with an expansive web of professional alliances and local connections. She is fluent in Danish, English, and Spanish.
